Heat Death

I had a dream that Wynn Bruce was alive
Maybe there was nothing to set him on fire
He seemed so normal or normal for a dream
We had a stale conversation over coffee

I have often wonder if the brush despairs
As fire draws near and the smoke fills the air

It would seem pointless and yet here we are
Screaming at the windshield of a self driving car
Maybe Matchbox Twenty we got pretty far
But we still ended up two and a half points above par

I had a dream that we never left the trees
No one had to glimpse this well oiled machine
Even yet still we had some people ask
Hey what if we never left the sea

I have often wondered if God laughs and laughs
Grins grim with vengeance for invoking their wrath

Maybe we deserve it I mean hey look at us
Hatred as common as gum on the bus
Society of hitmen devoid of trust
Maybe that's all we ever was

I had a dream that the strong nuclear force
Never overpowered the electromagnetic force
Heavier elements never came to be
Hydrogen and hydrogen as far as we can't see

I have often wondered what is really real
When all the things that matter are nothing we feel

Birds will be chirping long past our day
Nothing left intelligent or interesting to say
Heat death will come in the blink of an eye
Maybe we are lucky for our chance to die
