Clearance Tag (Spirit Halloween)

You've been in my heart long enough
To get rebranded as a Spirit Halloween
Memories fogged over
With overpriced smoke machines

Hallways of costumes are scattered about
With mismatched props up on display
Only for them to be gone
The very day after the celebrations are done

Fake blood stains my hands
As I reach out to see if there's just a chance
I want it back
I want the past
But there's no way we're coming back

You've hung my heart up with a clearance tag
Shattered pieces of it are on the floor
Just hoping it still sells to someone
To someone who'd see the broken pieces
And see that there's something more

See a future that I can't
As I lay fractured on the floor
Abandoned
With just a simple clearance tag
In an abandoned store

Maybe the rebranding wasn't such a bad idea
Maybe it was always meant to be
But
Why did you have to leave me to rebrand?

Was abandoning me part of your grand scheme
Your marketing plan
Was I the weakness in the SWOT analysis?

Now I'm just a clearance tag
