Where the Chicory Grows

I want to paint the color back into my eyes
build that little house and garden too
And do everything I was meant to do
Is that so bold?
Is that so bold?
Is that to bold?

I want to be where the hickory stands and the stiltgrass blows
I want to be where the cliff sides bleed and the clear waters cold
I want to be where the Queen Anne's lace and the chicory grow

I want to stand where the winds at my back and the suns in my eyes
won't tell anymore lies
Even if I'm alone
Even if I'm alone
Even if I'm alone

I want to be in the soft green light where the wild roses climb
With my love on my mind
I just want to go home
I just want to go home

They say if you're going through hell then keep going
they say their heaven just isn't for me
I can't say I ever knew how to get there
But I always knew where I wanted to be

If I make it myself is it still heaven?
If I stand up and run am I free?
If I'm still and I die for my patience
will my days come back to me?
