Halfway

I've got six months
Before I've got to
Grow up, get a job
And get out of the house
But I don't want to do that yet
But no one can escape it
I thought I knew where I would be
'Til I failed and failed again
Now I'm still at the start
While everybody's at the end
And even if I catch up
I can't make up for the laps I missed

But I've got a gift, so I'll use it
And I've got a path, I can't refuse it
And I've got so many stories to share
So I'll keep going
Won't catch me slowing
And if nobody listens, I don't care
I'm still halfway there
I'm halfway there

I'm sick of settling scores
And being half of who I am
I've got to realize myself
Before time gets the upper hand
But though I'm in the background
I'm making moves I didn't expect
Hollow headed and halfway
Spontaneity
Want to give you my best work,
But something's in the way
So while I'm getting that done
I'll show you what I'm working on

But I've got a gift, so I'll use it
And I've got a path, I can't refuse it
And I've got so many stories to share
So I'll keep going
Won't catch me slowing
And if nobody listens, I don't care
I'm still halfway there
I'm halfway there

I'm moving on to
Bigger and better things
But I'll never forget where I'm from
So long as I
Still have more to do
I'll know I'm only halfway through

But I've got a gift, so I'll use it
And I've got a path, I can't refuse it
And I've got so many stories to share
So I'll keep going
Won't catch me slowing
And if nobody listens, I don't care
I'm still halfway there
I'm halfway there
