The Forbidden Fruit

How does it feel to wake up
In a garden with no memories?
You taste the forbidden fruit
As you wander through the trees
But does it taste sweet?
Does the nectar please?
Is it all that was promised
By the serpent's tease?

You hear the voice of God
Whisper to you on the breeze
And so you clothe yourself
In a garment made of leaves
But still a guilty conscience plagues you
As you wonder if God sees
And you succumb to the effects
Of your age and disease

You worship and sacrifice
Desperate to appease
You beg for mercy
As you get down on your knees
But still, you are only human
You cut yourself and you will bleed
And it's with this knowledge
That you may finally be freed
