Pleasing Game

For as long as I can remember, I have had to please
Be perfect and tick all the boxes
When I suffered my emotions were not valid
My differences set me apart, it broke my heart
I grew up feeling looked at and judged
I had to be pretty not gain a pound
I struggled in school felt ashamed of myself
Sometimes I felt unworthy of love

There is only one person to please
Don't care about the rest
Happiness doesn't come from others
It comes from myself

This world is a pleasing game
But I won't play by the rules
I don't have to pretend to be somebody else
The only one worth pleasing is me
This world is a pleasing game
But I'm willing to cheat
Because happiness is my prize
The only one worth pleasing is me

I'm older now, but society hasn't changed
We stand still and try to fit the mould
There're still expectations of perfection
Shut up 'they say', and do as you're told

People are growing tired of these standards
We have so much beauty within
Cause in the end its your life your living
So please yourself you're in for a win

Don't let anyone have power over you
Those who are the closest are those who are killing you

Its your turn now come on shake away all your blues
Its your time to shine your time to let it all loose

Cherish your body your soul and your heart
The life you were given, your home and your path
You were meant to leave a mark in this world
Never doubt your purpose on this earth

I still believe there is only one person to please
And I don't care about the rest
It comes when we love ourself

This world is a pleasing game
But I won't play by the rules
I don't have to pretend to be someone else
The only one worth pleasing is me
This world is a pleasing game
But I'm willing to cheat
Because happiness is my prize
The only one worth pleasing is me
