II. Genuflect (feat. Robert Grant Jr.)

I've been introspective lately
Taking inventory of my mental storage
Putting lessons into categories
Ran into some trauma, wasn't ready for it
Drama was a blessing, had to learn to unlearn adolescent patterns for
Me to be able to travel with these similes and metaphors
I've been working on dealing with all of these feelings inside of me
I know if I move different nobody will treat me the same
They say there is a villain dwelling deep down inside of me
But I know taking an L is how you really learn the game

I wrote this verse in prostration as a demonstration of my love
Tried to give you the branch of an olive
You took it and threw it in the fire
Did I mention the branch was my arm
I hope that it did you no harm
That's ash in the breeze, food for the trees, so, now I gotta move on
Memories from my past come with me to the future through this song
You're with me on my mind all the time even when I'm alone
My mother said that you've grown
Your father said to be strong
But I can't deny or escape the fact that I care and you don't
