Listen (Hear not Conspire)

The smoke is thick and the flames are so high
Animals will run and launch scream and cry
Their habitat is gone from all around
Trees that once stood tall are all now burnt to the ground
The aftermath shows as the smoke finally clears
Destruction devastation of landscapes held dear
From the mountainous peaks - to the coastal terrain
And we know in our heart - It can't be the same again
Trees that young children may have made a swing
Or the canopies of gum and the adventure they bring
We will never forget - the fires that came
We still watch in ore - seeking people to blame
Gum leaves appear against the charcoal black bark
And the sap is like they've been crying
Missing the sound of the lark
Red green and yellow sometimes sprout blue
Showing signs of rejuvenation that can help us get through
Paw prints are found coming back to their homes
Bats and bees will visit a new story unfolds
For now we sit back - we watch and we wait
Mother nature will show us what we will learn of our fate
Whether it's a drought - a flood or a seasonal fire
She wants us to listen to hear and not to conspire
We wait and and watch for what the future will hold
Her warnings extreme with no notice we're told

She keeps us on edge
Some say on our toes
It's living in Australia
Just the way it goes
