She was a really nice girl back in high school
I kissed her once when I was high
I could have gone deeper but my mind was betrayed

I found her on Facebook twenty years later
She married early and divorced
She looked like something golden out of my past
I never could see what was right before me

I learned of her hard times made me feel bad
I couldn't have got to her sooner

If we'd hooked up back when we were rumors

The spice of youth has no spark to ignite
The flame of what once might have been
We tried to be what we were once meant to have
But neither of us could contain

There's more to a couple than just spending time
There's more than a heat and a flash
There's more to living together than loving alone
There's more to riches than cash

She's a good girl, make someone a fine wife someday
But there's not much left in our circle to say
