Knelt Before

There's a lot of things that pull me down
In the dark waters of my mind I drown
Thinking back on how it was
And what I'm doing and what I've done
There's some things I've said that I regret
No amount of apologies have fixed them yet
But it's something I must face
I can't take it back and I can't erase it

For the people on the sidelines waiting just to get in
For those who hold us down quoting the wages of sin
For the people trying and failing waiting for it to end
I have knelt before
But I won't kneel again

There are things I wish that I could change
Some rights some wrongs some lost some gained
But what I've done makes me who I am
These mistakes made me a man
In these times it seems no one forgives
But that hate you get back is the hate you give
So you must make a choice
Decide how the world's gonna hear your voice

For the people on the sidelines waiting just to get in
For those who hold us down quoting the wages of sin
For the people trying and failing waiting for it to end
I have knelt before
But I won't kneel again

I am a vessel for service honor and integrity
My handshake means something
My word is my bond
I make this promise every day

I decide my life on my own terms
The trust I give is the trust you earned
But I will not bow to you
Service does not mean servitude

For the people on the sidelines waiting just to get in
For those who hold us down quoting the wages of sin
For the people trying and failing waiting for it to end
For the people on the sidelines waiting just to get in
For those who hold us down quoting the wages of sin
For the people trying and failing waiting for it to end
I have knelt before
But I won't kneel again
