The Answer

An old man coughs and takes a seat
To lift the weight up off his feet
Not much to do so much to see
So why's he stare so blankly
I saw him walking down the street
Out of a bus near Finsbury
No wonder why he's always late

I do not know what the answer is, but by God, I know it ain't easy
A look so cold that it could freeze and you stoop so low you can't see me

She takes the baby out of pram
To see what all the crying's about
She's gonna make it better now,
She always makes it better now
I heard he lost his job today
Under her breath you hear her say;
"Why can't you just be a man?"

I do not know what the answer is, but by God, I know it ain't easy
A look so cold that it could freeze and you stoop so low you can't see me

I am so dirty and unclean
I need to know what time it is
I need to go and get some sleep
To wake up early and repeat
No time to lose, no time to waste
To wipe the smile off my face
I think I need a holiday

I do not know what the answer is, but by God, I know it ain't easy
A look so cold that it could freeze and you stoop so low you can't see me
I do not know what the answer is, but by God, I know it ain't easy
A look so cold that it could freeze and you stoop so low you can't see me
