Fall Sky, Fall

I see the sky is falling and it catches me off guard
And on the grass I'm crawling but I do not make a sound
It's my name you're calling but I can't see where you are
The direction of your voice gets lost in the horns of all the cars

With elbows round my ears and my head between my knees
I wonder who decided this position would protect me
I'm vulnerable and open to the world, within its reach
What kind of lesson did that first aid class really teach

Fall fall fall, sky fall
Sometimes the clouds will swirl and you'll lose control
The ground beneath you may give out and you'll be overwhelmed with doubt
Fall fall fall, sky fall

The moments pass by. I quiver in this fetal pose
The air around me smells of death and it permeates my nose
I'm unable to focus. I'm a statue in this place
In the distance there's a rumble and the ground, it starts to quake

I shut my eyes real tight, afraid of what they might behold
A crevice starts to form in the dirt and - it splits the stone
The earth attempts to swallow me but I cling to the crust
If there's one thing I've learned in this life; it's to fight when you feel you must

Fall fall fall, sky fall
Sometimes the clouds will swirl and you'll lose control
The ground you're on may quake and sometimes your bones will break
Fall fall fall, sky fall
