Floating Keys

I kept dreaming of a melody
I could have sworn my ears actually heard sweet ivory keys
But when i walked around the house
It still was only my confusion, that which regularly kept me company

The piano i got from a man contained a key
He snickered when i asked why
Small and brass and unnecessary
A funny decoration, i put in in the bench and never thought twice

I kept dreaming of a melody...
And suddenly they weren't dreams anymore
I walked by the study to hear an illusive piece
But it stopped the moment my skin touched the door

The piano i got from a man contained a key
And the image came to me in a dream
Maybe It was more than just a mantle piece...
Maybe i needed to use it to lock the keys

I kept dreaming of a melody
And it was better than anything id ever written
A cynic jealous man erupted within me
I'd lock it, get some sleep, and it would be forgotten

The piano i got from a man contained a key
And finally i got to use it

I haven't dreamt of a melody
It's been days, even weeks...
The house doesn't smell like cinnamon, or even sweet
It's cold, lifeless, and even sorrows My peaceful sleep

The piano i got from a man contained a key
And i used it to unlock the piano
The melody, that this friend of mine was creating
Because it was foolish of me to take away the music i didn't know

I keep daydreaming of a melody
Because my sweet ghost serenades me
The house feels alive, feels like hope and peace
Now my floating keys have become my favorite reason to sleep
