Myself
I've been practicing self-love for as long as I could remember
But what was this self-love I thought I knew about?
Was it only loving my good parts, or also my least admirable parts?
I'd be telling lies
If I said I didn't deserve it
I've been running in and out of patience (self-love for as long as I could remember)
I'd be talking nonsense
If I said I got it under control
'Cause I've been growing in and out of love lately
With myself
Loving my wrongs and my rights or sometimes in the middle
Loving my heart in good fortune, when it's in a riddle
Loving my scars and my flaws and all my imperfections
Loving me when I'm alone as much as I do when we're together
I'd be telling lies
If I said I don't find it difficult
I've been spending so much time just thinking (just thinking)
How I've never been fair
I've never been the one to be there
Now I'm telling myself just to listen (because we need to get to know each other)
To myself
Loving my wrongs and my rights or sometimes in the middle
(I'll introduce myself to the other side of me)
Loving my heart in good fortune, when it's in a riddle
Loving my scars and my flaws and all my imperfections
Loving me when I'm alone as much as I do when I'm with you
My hope is that one day we'll be best friends
And we go together, simultaneously
Like waves catching up each other's back
Rolling and creating
Like a flock of birds making a beautiful painting in the sky
Like a pair of shoes walking side by side
And eventually I'll understand how to love all parts of myself
But what was this self-love I thought I knew about?
Was it only loving my good parts, or also my least admirable parts?
I'd be telling lies
If I said I didn't deserve it
