Red Apples

Your tongue was a serpent
A clanging of dishes
A wolf's fleece in slumber
A side eye left grinning

Your eyes were like marbles
A drip in a large pool
You're like a dead childhood pet
I'd just begun to forget

And I still followed

So keep shining that red Apple
Polished like a mirror
Keep shining that red Apple
Till I see my face so clear

You breath was like heaven
A crow's deep descending
You're Like circling carrion
And I was ground to rest your head on

Your scent was like mothballs
Into a deep closet I walked
Try on some fig leafs to be discreet in
A garden memory receded

And I still followed

So keep shining that red Apple
Polished like a mirror
Keep shining that red Apple
Till I see my face so clear
