The Panopticon (Early Take)

I guess I'll never be Bob Dylan.
My songs won't win me a Nobel prize
I probably never get to see Stockholm
With my own two goddammit eyes
It comes down to reality some loose some win
Some see the world through a camera lense
Some drink it in and some get the 30
The world is finished with
And it's just a jpg of a thumbnail
Of a Polaroid picture that I held up to the sky
Maybe it's time

I'm stepping off the panopticon
Tired of hanging on with threads
I just gotta go while I still can
While I got me one thread left
I'm stepping off the panopticon
I don't think I'll need my phone
I don't need a device strapped to my side
To remind me I'm alone.

Father time started drinking again
Trading minutes for hours I guess.
But it makes him so damn angry
And all he's got left to trade is his fist
On my third birthday he gave me a watch
On my thirteenth a black eye
Then he went to get a pack of cigarettes
And he never even told me bye
Now I set my clock early to stay ahead of the time.
I read the manual in French and English
I still can't find rewind so I'm

Stepping off the panopticon.
I've read the books deleted the text
You can believe me when I say
I don't care what happens next
I'm stepping off the panopticon
Tires of hanging in threads
I just gotta feel something real
even if it's my last breath

Wake up at the crack of noon
Smile remember to do the things people do
Pull the covers down brush your hair
Put your slippers on check the mail
Maybe they'll be an inheritance check
Maybe this time itl be real
Open the box you kinda wish you'd lock
And what do we have for him johnny?
More waterlogged bills

I'm stepping off the panopticon
Tired of hanging on with threads
I just gotta go while I still can
While I got me one thread left
I'm stepping off the panopticon.
I don't need a device strapped to my side
To remind me I'm alone

I'm stepping off the panopticon
If you want you can go with me
I just gotta feel something real
Even If it's the last of me
