Avocado Toast
Another morning, another 8-buck breakfast sandwich
#sorrynotsorry
I was and still am a special child
My parents bought me place in the city
This financial godsend hasn't tainted my virtues
You better know I work hard every day
And at my half-time job I sport a full-time attitude
Give me a break when I need to complain
I am invested in stopping climate change
I weigh in where I can on my own
My apartment is riddled with colorful tote bags
I carry slogans everywhere I go
But who am I to deny myself a city trip to Rome,
Paris, London, or Bilbao
Where's the harm in booking fourteen round-trip flights a year
If you don't own a car?
I want to help and save the world
But I can't even help myself
I want it all to change
But preferably by someone else
Give me a cheap phone
And all the comforts of a mail order life
I want my avocado toast
And a healthy peace of mind
All the boomers have destroyed my planet
and my generation's here to carry that load
I spend fortunes and fortunes on vintage trash
So I can look as if I don't
It's safe to say I'm a man of reason
Everything is up for debate
But if you question or refute my progressive beliefs
I'll have to label and explain you away
All my groceries are organic, local,
Expensive, and damn well worth every penny
I have them all delivered to my doorstep
Without fault - every day of the week
Corporations should respect their employees
And pay their fair share to society
But I'm afraid I'm on a tight monthly budget
And there's just so many things I need
I want to help and save the world
But I can't even help myself
I want it all to change
But preferably by someone else
Give me a cheap phone
And all the comforts of a mail order life
I want my avocado toast
And a healthy peace of mind
I want to help and save the world
But I can't even help myself
I want it all to change
But preferably by someone else
