Drive

I drive from the city passing everything from which it protects me
The water pours out the side of the hill
We gather far and wide till we reach our fill
Climbed trees as they went out of style
Who knew what you meant when you said
"Let's just have fun for a little while"

My home is the city sidewalks pacing to a straight dead end
And when I get there I'll know the path I took was the only one
Rushing faster to a certainty we tempt to see but won't believe

Want to own what we can only borrow
As the whole world stares through screens and no one's moving or saying anything
Dreams don't exist outside of your bedroom
Because the problems with your head abi-normal and maladapt

I work in the city using everything to which I deem value
Chlorine poured down inside of the well
We wander far and wide till we grow still

Try to own what we can only borrow
As the whole stares through screens and no one's moving or saying anything
Dreams don't exist outside of your bedroom
What's the problem with your head
Can't be normal daydream counterfeit
