Destiny Betrayed
Two centuries ago
America was born
Founded on democracy
A cause worth fighting for
Courageous defenders
Throughout the many years
Protecting freedom in spite of their fears
The ballots were cast
The chosen one was John
And with his brother Robert
A new day would have dawn
But the enemy within our land
Had greed upon his heart
And so the plots of treason began to start
When apathy and comfort
Have lulled us all to sleep
And people a close vigilance
No longer want to keep
Then liberty and justice will soon fade away
And we'll wake to find our destiny betrayed
The choice of a nation
That day came to an end
Halted abruptly by the unsuspected men
Our hopes for a better world
Would never see their day
For a rain of bullets tore the dream away
When apathy and comfort
Have lulled us all to sleep
And people a close vigilance
No longer want to keep
Then liberty and justice will soon fade away
And we'll wake to find our destiny betrayed
They covered their graves
With tributes of stone
We were told it's been buried
Now leave it all alone
But in Arlington an eternal flame continues to shine
Beaconing us the truth to find
When apathy and comfort
Have lulled us all to sleep
And people a close vigilance
No longer want to keep
Then liberty and justice will soon fade away
And we'll wake to find our destiny betrayed
And we'll wake to find our destiny betrayed
