Ghosts
Ghosts of my past still tap on my shoulder
Say "Will you remember me as you get older?"
And I respond with a simple "Yes
But I don't get haunted
They say, "Think of me fondly" but the same they won't do
I replay conversations with the mirror in the bathroom
I say "In peace you shall rest"
Cause the past is the past
Blue-gray filters on these memories
I've moved on, they forgot about me
It was good, happy that it happened
Wish I would, have made it all last and
Some people you just have to let go (Let go)
And sometimes a few of them like to echo (Echo)
But after you've already seen and met ghosts (Met ghosts)
You know they don't want to keep you close (No)
Won't get through life without saying goodbye (Goodbye)
As long as at the end of each day you tried (You tried)
It's inevitable that someday you could die (Could die)
Take my advice, and just don't be a ghost, no
My friends they still die off, not always all at once
The pain is the same every time, one-by-one
And I see memories reset
As if I'm living them again
Ghosts tend to fade in and out, making me see shadows
The echos of their voices, I know by heart, and I quote
"I've missed you, let's be friends again"
I don't need to compromise for attention
Lessons learned, and perfect timing
Look back and see how it was bittersweet
It was good, happy that it happened
Wish I would, have made it all last and
Some people you just have to let go (Let go)
And sometimes a few of them like to echo (Echo)
But after you've already seen and met ghosts (Met ghosts)
You know they don't want to keep you close (No)
Won't get through life without saying goodbye (Goodbye)
As long as at the end of each day you tried (You tried)
It's inevitable that someday you could die (Could die)
Take my advice, and just don't be a ghost, no
I waited for a response
Never saw the three little dots
It's been over six months
And I had to let you go for once
I had to learn how to let go
People return just to echo
But I won't go back cause I've met their ghosts
I know they don't wanna keep me close
Some people you just have to let go (Let go)
And sometimes a few of them like to echo (Echo)
But after you've already seen and met their ghosts (Met ghosts)
You know they don't want to keep you close (No)
Won't get through life without saying goodbye (Goodbye)
