Rewind

Looking back on memories
Falling like the leaves on trees
Out of my grasp

Passing time does not slow down
It blurs my vision all around
It happens so fast

If I blink I'll be thirty-eight
I need to accept this fate

Some days I wish I could hit rewind
Back to all those better times
Back when everything was simple
Everything was fine
But life is in fast forward
It changes right before your eyes

One day I'll be forty-five
With children in a married life
Building my own legacy

When sixty hits I'll turn around
My kids are nowhere to be found
They've grown up and moved away from me

Next time I blink I'll be eighty-nine
Don't wanna leave all of my family behind

Some days I wish I could hit rewind
Back to all those better times
Back when everything was simple
Everything was fine
But life is in fast forward
It changes right before your eyes

Some days I wish I could hit rewind
But life never has 'better times'
They say "the grass is always greener on the other side"
But if you water your own lawn,
You'll see that that's a lie
