Reality Checkmate

I drove three days in the rain
This time it wasn't to win you back.
I was looking for something I left for you
The better life that I had
It's like I'm trying to convince
The current residents of my childhood home
To let me in just to reminisce bout how I had been gone
It don't go over like you think in your head it just might.
You can home okay that's for sure.
But they ain't gotta let you inside

I go on the road
I get a room
Lock the door.
Stay up late reading Kerouac
It'd the most ironic thing I've done this week
But I'm aware of that
By the bed my phone is blowning up
But I ignore the calls
Maybe I should talk to someone.
But I don't want to talk at all

I get a shower and get dressed
Don't leave the key on the bed this time
Maybe I'll meet someone new she'l be cool.
And she can show me the sights
I make it as far as the ice machine down the hall
Before I knew and the made up girl did too
We didn't have nothing to talk about at all

Guess It's time that I go back to my own place
I won't call it home cuz I found home can be replaced
It's just such a drag to think I might I see you around.
But it's a bigger drag to think we could share the same streets
And you'll be no where I'm found.

But be advised that you can still find home
And your key won't open the door
