Fable

A siren wrapped
In robes of silk and linen
You toil and turn
In the placid water shine
Are we trapped
How are all these deeds forgiven?
I struggle to tame these rather
Restless hands of mine

Say what you will, this fable's in decline
Say what you will, this fable's in decline

Gather up your will
For it's latest blessing
It might be overkill but we still know
At least it won't be as messy

Feel that elation
That pull of greed
Exaggeration of things we need
What is left to fill
But all the minds we see
Are just left for guessing

Say what you will, what you'd like to hear
Say what you will, this fable's in decline

We try and find an out
To collect meager winnings
What might seem finished now
Is likely just a means of
Feeding beginnings

Actions peculiar
A gesture discerned
Lead by the rulers
With names never learned
And in the pile of bones
We find a story of a world
Never spinning

Still I look onward
Obstructions, they be damned
Embracing a tale that clouds do part
You don't feel the weight of the world
When already a broken man
Only the beating of your heart

Say what you will, this fable's in decline
Say what you will, this fable's in decline
