Pick Up the Phone II
Why won't you pick up your phone
I've been calling you on and on and on
I know something's going on, tell me
Exactly what's on your mind
Don't isolate, don't run and hide from me
How will that fix anything, tell me
What's going on
I really wanna talk about what's going on
But you don't ever call me so I hit your line
But you don't reply
Your phone ringing on and on, I'm worried all the time
You won't pick your phone up to tell anybody
Self isolating has become your hobby
I'm no mind reader, can't tell when you're low
Don't shut me out when you're feeling alone
But it's hard I tried, can't tell no lie, yeah
Cause the people who were by my side they left my side yeah
Left me in the past, left me there to crash
On a highspeed highway with my feelings dealing with my past, yeah
I couldn't contemplate anything, I was fighting off a whole bunch of enemies
Some of them demonic entities biting me whenever they got the chance to
Through people I cling to
I regret that I did too
I make mistakes, they cost me a lot
I get lost in my train of thought, yeah yeah yeah
Why won't you pick up your phone
I've been calling you on and on and on
I know something's going on, tell me
Exactly what's on your mind
Don't isolate, don't run and hide from me
How will that fix anything, tell me
Honestly
I cannot dedicate time to wasting my time, cause y'all waste mine
Then tip toe outta my life, I pay the price for abandonment
People tell me how to handle it
I don't got time to back track
I don't get attached that's my bad
Every night that I spend awake I can't get away from repetitive memories
All the mistakes that I made or didn't make sent people far away from me
I cannot handle the downfall
I'm picking up the pieces on the ground
Nobody around to complain to or account for
Got hit with a right hook, southpaw
That hit broke my jaw, it broke my soul and it broke my heart
Almost tore me apart
God was there from the start
Guiding my path so I wouldn't trip up but I built these walls around me
Soundproof, 8 feet deep
Nobody around who could ever hurt me, as long as I keep my distance
But I forgot to mention, that I'm heavily addicted
To isolation, I'm in my safe space
I'm afraid to take a leap of faith
I don't wanna make another mistake
So I set my phone off to the side and let it ring ring until the tone fades
As I reflect upon myself in the mirror, I don't like what I see
I'd rather face these things alone then stand idle as they judge me
I feel all alone, but God is there and he knows that I've treaded here before
I pray that he instills in me the strength I'm looking for
To join back in community, I'm in need of community, community
Why won't you pick up your phone
I've been calling you on and on and on
I know something's going on, tell me
Exactly what's on your mind
Don't isolate, don't run and hide from me
How will that fix anything, tell me
I've been calling you on and on and on
I know something's going on, tell me
Exactly what's on your mind
Don't isolate, don't run and hide from me
