I Remember

I remember how I wanted to be just like you and nothing like me
I remember thinking oh how cool it must be to seem to be so free
And then it came on down, you hit the ground, there was no one around
And everything that I thought I could be, there was nothing left to be found
That's the way that I left you that day, there was nothing more left to say
I never even got to figure out why, I never even got to say good-bye

I remember such a long time ago you were all that I thought there could be
I remember looking way up high to see if I could see what you thought of me
You showed me so many things, taught me so much of life, what it means to be a man
