In the twilight either side has sway

I trek onward, alone
The water chills to the bone
And the earth is but a stone

No place to rest, here; I must struggle through the surf
My lot is heartless, and it's been this way since birth
There's no love I know that can change this course
No pasts that I can yet divorce

So I wander, ever more
On the coastlines that stretch before
On the brinks of two worlds I adore
I stand and question, "What am I for?"
Will the skies reach to take me?
Will my God still forsake me?
Will I ever know anything more
Than walking on the shore?
