(Intro) A Note from Steve [Live]
Like a lot of people
I have been going through all my past correspondence and emails with Steve
And there's one that I am particularly fond of
It's from when I was in previews for the musical Baby
And one night, I got to the stage door
And the doorman handed me two envelopes
One was from Steve and the other was from Hal Prince
I opened Steve's first, and it read
"I don't care what Hal says, you were really good in the show"
Then I opened Hal's
"I don't care what Steve says, you were really good in the show"
If I had to choose a favorite Sondheim musical
It would have to be Sunday in the Park with George
And when I was putting together this show
I, I made a list of songs I wanted to do, and this was top of the list
The only problem is it's a duet
So I thought, "Who could I get to sing with me?
Who could I afford? Who owes me?"
Please welcome my son Nicholas
Sondheim's songs are usually very show-specific
And this is not usually sung by a mother and son
But it could be
