Better Life Moment

It's the morning of that summer
And the road was ahead
We got into the jeep
Our only thoughts were of bed
We had just passed the edge
Of the town we were raised
Smoke filled the cabin
Music loud ears engaged

Up the hill we sped quickly
The air thinned with every yard
Every moment more exciting
As the view revealed our start
The base of the mountain
Hid our camp among the trees
Down to the festival
Dancing feet walked the streets

Can't remember a better
Life moment than this
Under the shade of the bush
Smiling happy to exist
Seeing all the lives pass by
In the distance music grew
The connection in that moment I knew
Was something true

The patio was buzzing
The air so a light
Electricity humming
So much music in sight
Dancing smoke of cigarettes
Lingered all around
Seemed always true
That the best times were about

Fast forward twenty years
Now I'm stuck in this grind
Full of faded memories
The mind's been unkind
But the truth of that memory
I will take to the grave
The connection in that moment
Hopefully
Hopefully never escapes

Can't remember a better
Life moment than this
Under the shade of the bush
Smiling happy to exist
Seeing all the lives pass by
In the distance music grew
The connection in that moment I knew
Was something true
