Georgia Peach

I learned to love watching those Braves
And following the Falcons on Sundays
Our pontoon boat lived on Lake Lanier
Up until my thirteenth year

Then the five of us
We moved far away
To a paper-mill town on a Florida bay
Where everyone there knew our family name
From mama's alma mater's hall of fame

I've ridden highways and old backroads
Cheered for the Florida State Seminoles
Gone from red dirt to sand and Shell Island tans
And traveled where my heart led me to go
From this spring break place
Where part of me is the Florida beach
To where my first steps trace
I'll always be a Georgia peach

No matter where I go
I take my southern drawl
From the ATL to Panama
My branches stretch as far as they will go
But my roots will always lead me home

I've ridden highways and old backroads
Cheered for the Florida State Seminoles
Gone from red dirt to sand and Shell Island tans
And traveled where my heart led me to go
From this spring break place
Where part of me is the Florida beach
To where my first steps trace
I'll always be a Georgia peach

I'll always be a Georgia peach

Soaking in the sunshine
Homegrown on cloud nine
That sweetness lasts a lifetime

I've ridden highways and old backroads
Cheered for the Florida State Seminoles
Gone from red dirt to sand and Shell Island tans
And traveled where my heart led me to go
From this spring break place
Where part of me is the Florida beach
To where my first steps trace
I'll always be a Georgia peach

I'll always be a Georgia peach
I'll always be a Georgia peach
