Heresies

I catch a glimpse of the sun
And the sun stares back
It always does
Bright spots flicker and flutter
As the rods in my eyes temporarily go blind
The playful dots glide and whirl in front of me
Inside of me
They speak of being fastened to a gaseous planet
In a raging cosmos
There is no larger feeling
From no smaller origin
A river to flow upon
And a forest to forage in
I am, at once, both giant and atom
Earth both nest and battlefield
Prison and meadow

Gravity surges from the top of my head
Down to the soles of my feet
Collapsing all around itself
I can feel my bones soften
And my skin grow tight
The sounds that ride wildly
on the back of the wind fade
And all thats left is the sound of my pulse
That sound is blood fowing through my arteries
Branching off into capillaries as my cells rejoice
As my insides harmonise my feet
slowly begin to detach from the soil
Has gravity changed its mind, abandoned its cause

Each cell in my body follows the other
One by one
Until we are anchorless
My body climbs
The playful dots and pixelated spots
Clearing a path up to the sun
I turn back to see
what remains of where I had stood
But I don't recognise what I see
I feel the sun's heat
Panic
My advent, so long awaited
And now all I can think is
How do I stop floating
How do I plant my feet back into the earth
