Let My Guard Down

Somebody built an unclimbable wall
Between me and all of my goals
The armed guards carry me
10 steps away
For every single one
That I dare to make
And everytime I fear that I'll decay

Maybe it's all impossible
I can't just cross borders
And violate orders
As I please
But everytime that I close my eyes
I dream of the other side
And the life that could be
At the place that I want to reach

Every morning
I try to delude the guards
But they're never falling
For any trick that I got
Then one day
There's only trampled grass
Where the guards would stand
I get bold and enter the sentry box
Then I reach for
The keys that can unlock
The door into freedom

As I almost reached the other side
The second guessing creeps in
What if I don't like what I find
I built up these high hopes
And I doubt that
Reality will come close

Somebody screams out my name
There I can see
My dreams burst again
For once
I've got to stand up for myself
My finger is threatening close
Around the trigger
Ready to shoot its final shot
I realize all this time
I've been fighting with my mirror
I am my nemesis
Yes, that somebody was me
