Shoebox

Got a shoebox full of memories
Good and bad, mostly in between
Got a cupboard full of broken slate
Each in turn that I've wiped clean
Got a life time of bad timing
I should have left it to the wind
Got a shoebox full of memories
Good and bad, mostly in between

Got a long way to go... you know
Got to smile when you're down,
Get up when you're low turn your
eyes to the sun and let it all go
Turn your eyes to some light
And the darkness will go.

Got lots of time on my hands got
nothing to do but try and understand
Got lots of feelings to plan got to put
them into boxes 'cause they get out
of hand the telephone is off the hook
Gonna put things in proportion, gonna
read a good book got to sit down and
clear my mind put my life off pause
'cause I can't rewind

Every night I lie awake 'cause I'm
running out of potions that will put
me to sleep every night I lie awake
And I'm numbing my emotions
'Cause they are to hard to keep
But I know it won't take before
I forget about these feelings and I
move along I know it won't take long
Before I put you in my shoebox and I carry on
