Thorn Garden

Bury me in a thorn garden
Just make it shallow enough
That if your heart starts aching
You can just dig me up
But if you have any hesitation
Please leave me to rest
Cause if life taught me anything
There are things that are worse than death

I don't want to go down that road
It's so cold and it's so dark
I'll wander till I can't hear a sound
Soft soil of a grave unmarked
And underneath the willows arc
A thorn garden lays
Flourishing and stark
Unmatched by your gaze

If I arrive with no memories
Let's just start again
Cause time has been so unkind to us
And dreaming left us sleeping in
My minds always broken
With no measures to fix
No comfort or rest
Unspoken and sick

I don't want to go down that road
It's so cold and it's so dark
I'll wander till I can't hear a sound
Soft soil of a grave unmarked
And underneath the willows arc
A thorn garden lays
Flourishing and stark
Unmatched by your gaze

I'll lay silently beneath the earth
Food for whatever comes first
And though I'm dry and I thirst
I know of pain so much worse

Awaiting the day I draw near
To our garden calm and serene
But's it's not the decay that I fear
It's whatever the end means

I don't want to go down that road
It's so cold and it's so dark
I'll wander till I can't hear a sound
Soft soil of a grave unmarked
And underneath the willows arc
A thorn garden lays
Flourishing and stark
Unmatched by your gaze
