What Do You Want To Know
I used to pace around a lot thinking deep to myself
Why do people like to talk? It can't be good for their health
Having strong opinions based on nothing at all
Except they heard it from a mighty smart man who knows it all
It used to drive me mental, always on the brain
The first thing in the morn' and when I go to bed again
I heard that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones
If they're talking about me, they're leaving someone else alone
So, what do you want to know? And I'll tell you the gods honest truth
Well, what did you hear last night? Would I ever lie to you?
And I couldn't get over that, he didn't lick that off the grass
But you never heard that from me
That's the way it's always going to be
A few years on and I've gone through a transition
Calling people out on gossip is no longer a mission
Instead, when they come at me with the bullshit
There's no better man to give them their fill of it
If that's what keeps them going, who am I to deny them?
The cycle is recycled and there's no point in rising
'Cause rising leads to ruction, and ruction leads to fighting
Fighting leads to jail time, sure that could be a lifetime
So, what do you want to know? And I'll tell you the gods honest truth
Well, what did you hear last night? Would I ever lie to you?
And I couldn't get over that, he didn't lick that off the grass
But you never heard that from me
That's the way it's always going to be
What about the babysitter, a 5th cousin of Hitler?
In every single house and I've heard there's badness in her
And then the painter John from Tyrone or Inishowen
What's he doing painting anyway? He's involved with Al Capone
A little birdie told me, I read it in the paper
I've seen it on the internet, I heard it from a neighbour
And everybody's talking, but I don't know them really well
You're not the first one said that, so I would well believe it
So, what do you want to know? And I'll tell you the gods honest truth
Well, what did you hear last night? Would I ever lie to you?
I couldn't get over that, he didn't lick that off the grass
But you never heard that from me
That's the way it's always going to be
So, what do you want to know? And I'll tell you the gods honest truth
Well, what did you hear last night? Would I ever lie to you?
