I Had A Dream

I had a dream while I did sleep
I'd slipped way among the sheep
The trail fell off beneath my feet
Down I went that way so steep
Down I went into the deep

I had a dream that other night
About the children and their plight
Far way and out of sight
No one cared about their rights
No one cared enough to fight

I had a dream but I awoke
It seemed the house was full of smoke
Among a different sort of folk
They never smiled and rarely spoke
They never smiled but never joked

I had a dream the other day
It was the merry month of May
In fields of butterflies at play
I felt at home but could not stay
I felt at home but went away
I felt at home but went away
