They Don't Care

Every day somebody tells me they love me but they can only love what they see
I move along knowing the skies up above me could open up and rain anything
Someone told me I was much too smart to be wasting my time away
Avoiding mistakes, staying out of the way
Might be running the race don't mean you're running to place

I keep tryna hide behind the thought of safety
(But there's no such thing)
Worried if I go too far, they might hate me
(But they don't care so why should you)

Every day the internet shows me something that nothing could've prepared me to see
And while the world tells me I need to be someone that nobody prepared me to be
I used to think that I was much too smart until I started to learn from age
No avoiding mistakes when you're finding your way
Things will fall into place but they could easily change

I keep tryna hide behind the thought of safety
(But there's no such thing)
Worried if I go too far, they might hate me
(But they don't care so why should you)
