Soundproof

There's a train station somewhere
Where all the taxis are flamingo pink
And somewhere else
In the deepest bowels of this city
There's a live performance in some soundproof room
Where up-and-coming artists play concerts
To an audience of three

Sometimes I forget
That there's a subway system beneath our feet
And everyone doesn't just travel in those flying trains

There was a time where I looked out my window
And saw metal wyverns weaving in between the buildings
And sometimes I read adverts carved upon their chests

There are some alleyways that feel quieter than usual
So strangely silent and hushed
So abnormally calm and whispered
That you forget you live in a city

Maybe there's a vacuum here
Maybe something's left that you never even knew was there
Maybe all those street-lurking ghosts and spirits
Have left to a performance in some soundproof room
Where up-and-coming artists play concerts
To an audience of three

Three
Three
Three
Three
Three
