Twenty Four

I'm not sure that I've been honest
I'm rarely honest with myself
Only focus on what I want to
Toss the others in the well

Am I doing what I should be
Or giving things the run around
It seems troubles never wander far
From the holes that they crawl out

So I'll try to remember twice a day to brush my teeth
I'll no longer question the strangers out in the street
I'll no longer beg them to tell me there's got to be more
Than reaching the end of myself at twenty four

Ever since I can remember
I never saw it until now
I've been searching for a savior
To lazily water me down

I drown in the river and I choke on the smoke
Until shame fills the chasm that I call my throat
I feel no different than before

So I'll try to remember I can't function without sleep
I'll no longer question the strangers out in the street
I'll no longer beg them to tell me there's got to be more
Than reaching the end of myself at twenty four
Than reaching the end of myself at twenty four

So I'll try to remember not everything's a fever dream
I'll no longer question the strangers out in the street
I'll no longer beg them to tell me there's got to be more
Than reaching the end of myself at twenty four
Than reaching the end of myself at twenty four
