dead end

Your succulent withered
Then it died, or got murdered
I can't remember your last word
Like a song it takes me back
To that time, tick tick tack
A red flag on a coatrack

The silence's loud inside my head
I raise my eyes and we
Reached a dead end
A novel without a plot
Hoping to land a moonshot

We stare at each other
Every Monday for an hour
Unsaid truths make my heart bluer
When you try to make me laugh
I wish you took a polygraph
Maybe you're trying to break me in half

The chatter's loud inside my head
I look around and we
Reached a dead end
A character who is eager
To feature
In a story with some structure

And I'm writing again
'Bout those shenanigans
I guess we're even then?
I'm in tears on the floor
It's not fun anymore
Broke myself once more
That was the last encore

Cause we are at the dead end
I look behind and it was
All in my head
Concluding this narrative
That was mostly deceptive
