Blow in the Sails

Captured me
Out upon this sea
As the windless evening
Has snared my ship
Not a sound
No, not a ripple moves
Upon the surface of the deep
I take a breath
Hope for the best
Blow in the sails
I cannot stay still
Blow in my sails
I need a breeze to appear
Row my arms but nothing moves
Cast the barrels off of the sides
I pray for a storm to jar me from this
And shift me with its tide
I take a breath
As I hope for the best
Suddenly, out of nowhere
Prayers are answered
The rush of pouring rain tears through
I'm knocked over
Laughing on my back
As my newly freed ship starts to move
Lightning whips near me
Striking near my head
Crashing with the troubled waves
They groan down below
None of this really worries me
No, not anymore
Just so long as that wind will blow
Hurriedly, as we speed ahead
Outrace the dread, quick and the dead
Shed malaise as we sail away
From this empty place
I take a breath
I sail ahead
