Day Seven

On a sunny summer Tuesday
Heard the thunder call her name
Felt the limestone crush her body
When they laid her in her grave
Saw the waters rising come to carry her away

Crept into my room one night
Fed upon my fears
Lied to me in whispers
Stayed with me for years
Mama cried what have you done to my child
Daddy's drinking whiskey gonna be here for awhile
But you don't even know who I am any more

Waters rising from the darkness
Swallow up the sides
River's driving and she's restless
Waves rolling with the tides
Me I'm aching and I'm hollow
Heading for the shore
Because, I don't even know who you are anymore

You look surprised to find me
Early morning at your door
Got my wings and they are shiny
Like we've never seen before
And I'm floating and I'm flying
Don't know what I'm heading towards
Because I don't even know who I am anymore
