Modern Epoch
We had hoped for better times, the fantastic future that never was
Liberated from commodification, with great machines to do the heavy lifting
Social emancipation was the goal: sovereignty, independence, autonomy
We're still stuck with parasitic royals
Old boys' clubs and no separation of church and state
Whatever happened to nuclear disarmament
Global health equity, an end to extinction, borderless continents?
The possibilities once seemed limitless
In a world abundant with opportunity, we could dream
We've got bloody war and massacre, pandemic disease and looming climate catastrophe
Their take - "screw you, I've got mine"
"I'm not putting my neck on the line"
Can we alter this path of destruction in an era of despair and misery?
Will we mend the rupture between intellect and emotion?
Or is all lost?
I, for one, hope not!
Liberated from commodification, with great machines to do the heavy lifting

We're still stuck with parasitic royals
Old boys' clubs and no separation of church and state
Whatever happened to nuclear disarmament
