Navy Blue

Daisies brush by the scars on both my arms, telling me not to forget
Lying back by the bright red track where I told you some things I'd regret

My broken promise
I was honest though it did me no good

Buried amidst all the greener dales
I was navy blue
Give me a coffin, and I've the nails
I'll be gone from view

Rolled down sleeves and our shared beliefs meant that we became brothers in arms
You would cope with your tragic jokes, but I feared they did less good than harm

But now you've flown, I should have known to do some more with my chance
Fragrant lily of the valley, don't take my friends in a trance

Blossoms of wolf's-bane look beautiful
In their navy blue
Care not for looks and stay dutiful
There's danger in the hue

Humour me, please, with your honesty, not your navy blue
Just as my cuts bled so openly, so might words for you
