Reflections
We watched the jazz band as we drank our wine
And the city lights below looked so divine
Walked by the waterfront in the cold autumn air
Ran through the pouring rain with soaking hair
Halloween was just a few weeks away
The streets were alive with every spooky display
Down by the harbor fog rolled it's way in
I held your hand as we watched the water's reflections
In New York City we walked through the streets
We met Maria at a bar for some drinks
Back at your place it was the very next night
Snow fell like cherry petals down from the sky
Misty eyed as we said our goodbyes
Then we embraced under the flickering porch light
Thousands of feet now up in the air
Soon I will land but my heart will be with you there
In Laguna Beach down by the moonlit cliffs
That was the first time that we ever kissed
The night we drove to the observatory
I could have stayed forever and just never leave
On your mother's blanket we watched the sun sink
Into the vastness of the golden sea
And at the park I tried my best not to cry
How do you love someone but then still say goodbye?
And I miss you but that's something I don't make known
A thousand miles away but still you feel like home
And the nights I drank too much
Still you showered me in love
And in that dirty mirror
I can still see our reflections
