Growing To Do

I know that I have lots of growing to do
It's a lifelong journey that I'm on
I know I can do what I set my mind to
Then all my troubles will be gone

Life has a funny way of turning shit around
It tries us with many difficult things
And I know in my heart that I will never be bound
By words of others, even when they sting

My character cannot be tested
It will never be up for sale
I am who I am, cannot be bested
Don't put my persona on a scale

Kindness is free and so is respect
These two things I give joyfully
But I deserve them back, last I checked
I must act more carefully

I am human, I make mistakes
That doesn't make me bad
It doesn't mean my life should be at stake
From myself and the feelings that I had

I deserve to live, this is true
No one can tell me that it's not
I'm a good person who makes mistakes yes, I do
But battles should not have to be fought

It's okay to say I'm sorry and move on
That's a good way of thinking
It's why I'm here singing this song
Instead of falling or sinking
