Tyranny of Time

Walk along the road a while, you may find a traveler there
With a bright glow of desire, disaster in her hair
Jack of all the trades of men and a master of none
What's her name, you may ask
Ira, she's the one

Ira in her younger years could rob, steal and cheat
She still had all her fingers, she had the gift of deceit
When she stumbled on a game of chance, there was little risk involved
How was she to know, how that game would resolve
She said

Run Ira, run if you can
Run because you're free
Run Ira, the game is still at hand
Time's a tyranny

The dye was cast, and the tea leaves read, lightening struck the ground
The lights went out and Ira cried, What game have I found
Suddenly a light shown down, it was silent and still
And then the spirit came down and took Ira at its will
She said

Run Ira, run if you can
Run because you're free
Run Ira, the game is still at hand
Time's a tyranny

She said, I've had enough, my time is up
I'm ready to be released
I've work so hard, put in my days
and gathered for the feast
Scattered, battered, tossed around, still coming back for more
If life is like a game, Ira wanted more
Spun out through the sands of time, the mystery unwinds
It's 100 foot of water, and it's so hard to find

Run Ira, run if you can
Run because you're free
Run Ira, the game is still at hand
Time's a tyranny
