An Affirming Flame

When will it ever be enough?
When nuclear ashes block the stars?
When ocean current finally stops?
Or solar fire takes us all?
The tension will not break
Our push increases strain
And still we tear, kill and maim
Cast in a delusion
Of self-important arrogance
Our perception in a void
That cares not for what we think
And the world doesn't care about you
This whole herd is fucking doomed
When the populace cannot regenerate
This planet becomes a tomb
To think of the billions
Who have lived and died in vain
Fighting for this world
Full of so much hollow pain
I know you feel it too
This spectre haunting you
I've seen this vision of the end before
Is this not injustice? Is this not unfair?
Are we supposed to watch our lives fall to ash?
I show an affirming flame
No victory I proclaim
But a mark of the just
Made of Eros and of dust
Negation and despair
Ruins the world we share
Our world in stupor lies
We must love one another or die
