Scenes from the Past

When I was younger, I played in the woods
Created adventures wherever I could
Those were the days I'd thought never end
The summers were timeless, made mischief with friends
A child's memories, a past I can see

We made forts from sheets, and we played in the streets
Then ran home for dinner with dirt on our knees
I thought I had lost these scenes from the past
But now with my boys, I have found them at last
I've found them at last

Watching my sons is a mirror of time
They're making their childhood while I relive mine
The sun might be setting, my hair turning grey
But there's youth in this moment, I still love to play
A child's memories, a past I can see

We'll make forts from sheets, and we'll play in the streets
Then run home for dinner with dirt on our knees
I thought I had lost these scenes from the past
But now with my boys, I have found them at last
I've found them at last
