Sham Castle

A lovely evening, let's go for a walk
We'll enjoy the sun and a luxurious talk
We'll meet at the fountain outside your place
I'll bring wine and glasses, just in case
Minutes later and we're into the fields
People, traffic, the noise of the city yields
To nature, birdsong and paths through the trees
Onwards uphill, we go where we please

Wandering the fields looking over the city
As we talk for hours
Feeling I'm making lifelong memories
Putting the world to rights
We're one with the sunshine
Adventure and friendship align

Onwards we go, onto the golf course
Full of old men, stereotype reinforced
Barren expanse of weedkiller and grass
Doesn't take long for us to get past
Top of the hill Sham Castle looms ahead
Built for Ralph Allen to see it from his bed
You lay the blanket I'll open the wine
In the shadow of this folly we will dine

Wandering the fields looking over the city
As we talk for hours
Feeling I'm making lifelong memories
Putting the world to rights
We're one with the sunshine
Adventure and friendship align

Wandering the fields looking over the city
As we talk for hours
Feeling I'm making lifelong memories
Putting the world to rights
We're one with the sunshine
Adventure and friendship align

Then we pack up head back down into town
Past uni buildings and students in their gowns
It must be their graduation day
Reminisce as we continue on our way
Back in the city and our walk is at an end
Just a few hours exploring with a friend
Simple pleasure, only cost our time
Meet again soon, I'll drop you a line

Wandering the fields looking over the city
As we talk for hours
Feeling I'm making lifelong memories
Putting the world to rights
We're one with the sunshine
Adventure and friendship align
