Thugs

A couple bad apples makes an angry orchard
So just slam the gavel; we can't stand the torture
Order, order in the court; time to abort
Punish, punish us some more, but tell us what for

Don't let the cops off; take them down, lock them up
It's how the chips fall, but they can't get enough
I'm waiting on some justice, but it won't come
We're fighting, but the battle is still not done

Peaceful protests in the streets
Armed with the freedom of speech
We don't have guns
But we've got ethics at least
Police being brutal
Don't you see it's futile
They won't get prison time
Though they commit the crime
Judges being lenient
Oh, look, how convenient
Officers are off the hook
With another life they took
Call us criminals to boot
As counter-protests take root
Well, well, well, ain't that just bizarre
'Cause we know who the real thugs are

They should look at themselves just to see the proof
They should all go to jail, but the question's moot
I've more moral sentiments, but what's the use
I've seen longer sentences in Dr. Seuss

And when they wear riot gear, you know they're weak
'Cause they're just so scared when we decide to speak
Catch them red-handed when they're snatching your camera
Post it on the internet to show that they're doing it
All of them violent, all of them thugs
So don't be silent; lock them all up

A couple bad apples, you say
Don't make me laugh
They say an apple a day
Keeps the doctor away
But on behalf
Of black lives
I pay no mind
To what blue lives say

And they have no idea how bad their stance is
Bad apples? Snow White had better chances
And your bad ones aren't even reprimanded
So it's almost like that's how they're commanded
Curiouser and curiouser
The rabbit hole keeps going
If we don't mug the thugs
The death toll will keep growing
So defund the police
Maybe then, we'll have peace
Just hit them where it hurts
Teach them how 'til they learn
So mug the thugs and show them what we mean
When we stand up for what we believe

Peaceful protests in the streets
Armed with the freedom of speech
We don't have guns
But we've got ethics at least
Police being brutal
Don't you see it's futile
They won't get prison time
Though they commit the crime
Judges being lenient
Oh, look, how convenient
Officers are off the hook
With another life they took
Call us criminals to boot
As counter-protests take root
Well, well, well, ain't that just bizarre
'Cause we know who the real thugs are
